Portugal: Socialist Party raided in Lisbon during anti-corruption operation

Five people were arrested and 37 others were indicted, police said. Among the suspects are the former socialist head of a district town hall in Lisbon and a communications advisor to the current leader of the opposition.

The headquarters of the Portuguese Socialist Party in Lisbon was raided on Thursday May 28 as part of an investigation into embezzlement relating to contracts awarded by municipalities, this political group announced.
