World music. Since 1976, the Musiques Métisses festival has asserted its vocation as a defender of cultural diversity, and celebrates openness to the world. The 50th anniversary edition will bring together legends and contemporary voices from 18 countries: the Malian icon Fatoumata Diawara, the essential master of Réunion maloya, Danyèl Waro, the veterans of Californian reggae Groundation and those of rap French Sniper. The nomadic jazz of Les Égarés (with B. Sissoko, V. Segal, É. Parisien and V. Peirani) will rub shoulders with the committed song of HK, the energy of the Cuban Ana Carla Maza… And the Kabaré Kréol of René Lacaille will receive Mouss & Hakim.
The world will also be told through words: Littératures Métisses will welcome great international writers (the Ivorian Véronique Tadjo, the Togolese Sami Tchak, the Lebanese Charif Majdalani…). Author Isabelle Dethan will represent the comic strip.
Finally, as part of Ciné-Métis, we will see “Lapo Chapé”, a documentary by Mélissandre Monatus on identity perceptions.
