Saturday May 30, the Carrefour de Quetigny shopping mall welcomes Fabien Libiszewski, a great French chess player who has held the title of international grand master since 2009. He will simultaneously face twenty licensed players from the Dijon Academy chess club Philidor Chess Board (AEP).

Aged 42, the famous chess player co-hosts the BlitzStream since 2016, the reference chess chain in France. Organized by the AEP, the confrontation will begin at 2:30 p.m. The club invites visitors to come and witness this “extraordinary performance” in the words of the club, which is hosting an international grand master for the first time. During the afternoon, the public will also have the opportunity to take advantage of the freely accessible gaming tables to learn about chess or “the art of logic”, in the words of Yann Lozac’Hmeur, chess teacher and founder of the AEP.

“It’s a game where chance doesn’t exist, only strategy counts.”

On site, two giant chess boards will also be made available for playing in large format. Among the twenty members of the club who will play on Saturday May 30, is Michel Haberstrau, who ran in the last municipal elections in Dijon. The latter has a long-standing passion for chess: “It’s a game where chance does not exist, only strategy counts. You have to know how to anticipate your opponent’s moves, which, deep down, perhaps resembles politics.”
