OL Lyonnes to face Wolfsburg in Champions League Quarter-finals
Three months after the end of the league phase, the Lyonnes players are back in the Champions League.
The Lyonnaises will travel to Wolfsburg this Tuesday at 6:45 pm for the first leg of the European competition quarter-finals. Away from home, the players under Jonatan Giraldez hope to gain an advantage before the return match scheduled for next Wednesday at the Groupama Stadium.
But the Lyon coach does not want to rely too much on the first meeting between the two teams which took place last November in the league phase and that Lyon won 3-1. “This team has a lot of quality. This time, it will be a different match because the situation and context are different,” noted Jonatan Giraldez. The Spanish technician is wary of a German team that will play at home, “in a different atmosphere.”
“It will be a very difficult match. We know they are always very strong when playing at home. We expect a very tough encounter,” emphasized Jule Brand who will face her former club. And the German continued: “We are ready to face this situation. My only goal, regardless of the context, is to win.”
Because the team is traveling to Germany with high ambitions as the Champions League is one of the club’s goals this season.
