Since the start of the week, the third volume of caricatures of personalities from Sète and the Thau basin has been available. Like the famous album initially reserved for footballers, it offers customers the opportunity to purchase stickers – there are 454 in all – to complete all of the characters drawn by Topolino.
And three hundred more which makes – almost – a thousand. With the release, this week, of the third volume of Topokémonstres, nearly a thousand personalities from Sète and the Thau basin have been represented, since 2021, in caricature, under the hat of Topolino, the third thief Combas.
What animals are represented by Marquess and Linares?
In this authentic Panini album with Sétoise sauce, available (€5) in press houses and some partner businesses, buyers will be able to paste the stickers of some 320 local personalities. All transformed into animals by the tireless artist from Sète. Hervé Marquès, the mayor of Sète, makes his entry as does Loïc Linares, the president of the Agglo. In the guise of what animal?
Multiple stickers for the same character
To find out, you will have to buy bags of stickers (€2.50 for 22) and hope to come across one. “There are a total of 454 stickers, explains Pascal Granger, because some designs are divided into several stickers.”ÂThe instigator of this project – he is also at the initiative of the World of the mimosa egg or the longest arm of Venus in the world – had taken advantage of the time left by the Covid period to work on the first volume to promote Topolino’s drawings. “I haven’t stopped making them for five years. I make them based on my memory or on the basis of photos”slips the artist.
Who makes the choices to decide on the personalities?
Volume 1 then brought together the first circle of their mutual friends. “As it worked well, we are doing the second with a slightly wider circle”specifies Pascal Granger. The current third is even more open. “We have Gilles d’Ettore and his clairvoyant, he smiles, but also the Liminañas and Stéphane Collaro who are fans of Sète.” It is the two partners who make the choice to know who enters this local elite. Some are very happy about it, others complain about being there, others about not being there.
There is suspense for the release of volume 4…
Will the unrepresented be in volume 4? “This third is the last. We are at the end of the end”believes Pascal Granger. “I don’t know. I keep drawing local characters all the time”says Topolino. Here we are, grilled like paninis… Unbearable suspense.
