The officers in the unmarked vehicle were conducting an investigation in the southeast of Washington when they were “ambushed by at least two armed men” in the evening, said Scott Brecht, chief of the United States Park Police. He did not specify the purpose of the officers’ investigation.
Officer shot in the shoulder
According to information from the Associated Press agency, the agent, who is “seriously injured,” was shot in the shoulder. He was airlifted to a hospital, as indicated by Scott Brecht, emphasizing that this officer’s life was not in danger.
The interim chief of the municipal police, Jeff Carroll, specified that there was “no indication” that the police had fired back.
