As he prepares to hit the road for a huge tour, a petition to cancel Patrick Bruel’s concerts has been launched, following his accusations of sexual assault and rape. Many celebrities have signed.
The Patrick Bruel affair continues to generate ink. The singer and actor has been the target of numerous accusations of sexual assault and rape for several weeks. Around thirty women, including the famous TV presenter Flavie Flament, testified against him. The host accuses her of rape when she was only 16 years old. In total, thirteen complaints have already been filed against the singer in France and Belgium and five investigations are underway. While Patrick Bruel is preparing to embark on a huge tour in France with forty-three cities in total, a petition aimed at canceling his concerts was launched last April by several feminist collectives. This Saturday, May 23, the petition reached 40,000 signatures, as reported by the site Change.org which hosts the signatures. Among all these signatories, we find several celebrities, such as Anna Mouglalis, who spoke about the accusations this Sunday, May 24 on BFMTV.
That’s not all, when the petition was launched, more than fifty artists, collectives and feminist associations had already signed, reportedl’Humanité. The actresses Corinne Masiero, Anouk Grinberg, the journalist Giulia Fois, the actress Audrey Vernon, the authors Florence Porcel and Florence Mendez, the comedians Elodie Arnould and Julie Conti and the singer Pomme are among the celebrities to have signed the petition to cancel Patrick Bruel’s tour.

Petition, room… Is it really possible to cancel Patrick Bruel’s tour?
But as we recall La Tribune Sundaythis May 24, canceling Patrick Bruel’s tour because of these accusations is not an easy matter. “As long as there are no objective legal elements targeting the artist, such as police custody or indictment, insurance companies most often refuse to coverâ€explained Simon Clemenceau, lawyer at the Paris bar, to our colleagues. Furthermore, cancellation would result in “several million euros”according to the estimates of a professional in the sector.
But for the media representative of the feminist collective Nous Tous, Marie Meschi, who launched the petition, the message behind the maintenance of the singer’s tour could have terrible consequences. “Keeping the stage open to Patrick Bruel is sending a disastrous signal to women that their words have no place in the public space.”she warned in the columns of the newspaper.
