DECRYPTION – Sacred in the last Victories of Classical Music, this intriguing resonator xylophone is in the spotlight at the Philharmonie de Paris for an entire weekend. A first, which illustrates the place of the instrument on the contemporary scene.
Just ten years ago, a young Bulgarian percussionist captivated the classical world by performing on the marimba, accompanied by pianist Thomas Enhco, the anthem of the Cannes Film Festival: the famous “Aquarium”, taken from the Carnival of the Animals from Saint-SaënsÂ! A version that is both jazzy and immaterial, bordering on improvisation, which served as a showcase for Vassilena Serafimova’s first duo album: Tightrope walkers (Deutsche Grammophon).
