Onward to the music! In a month, the heart of the city will vibrate again to celebrate the arrival of summer. Canceled in 2020 due to a pandemic, the national event launched in 1982 has since been absent from the local festival calendar. Thanks to a partnership established between the UCAI (Commercial, Artisan and Industrial Union) and the Modern Academy of Music, the year 2026 will mark its great return. “It seemed obvious to me to relaunch it, especially since the configuration of the city lends itself well to it,” explains Sébastien Guibert, musician. experienced and co-founder of the new school opened last September I went to see the town hall and the traders and the UCAI immediately showed interest.
Two scenes
President of the association and eager to energize the city, Vincent Gérard took the outstretched hand. Especially since the idea was already floating around in people’s heads. “We’ve been talking about it for a long time because it’s important to get Marcigny moving,” he said. For business to work, things have to happen. And as soon as we do something here, it attracts people.” For almost nine months and after numerous meetings, the 2026 Music Festival has taken shape and the poster is complete. With a budget of around 10,000 euros, it looks great. “There will be music from around 3 p.m. to midnight,” explains Sébastien Guibert. These are the students of the two music schools who will start from 3 to 5 p.m. with a small stage set up near the bar terraces on the Place du Cours.
Three groups
The rest will take place on a large stage of around fifty square meters set up in front of the Vox cinema. From 6 p.m., three groups will follow one another. The Marcignots of Black Hole Sun first (rock grunge funk), the professional musicians of Séba & the Mojo Kings then (blues rock), then the Anzynois of Altazyc (rock and variety) to finish. Between each change of set, amateur singers will be able to give voice with half an hour of karaoke. Please note that Radio Cactus will be present to produce a live broadcast while the UCAI will provide refreshments and snacks alongside two food trucks. Around forty volunteers will be mobilized for the occasion. “The last Music Festival attracted 5,000 people, if we had 2,500 for the first, we would be happy,” concludes the director of the academy. And, if it works well, I would like to organize a festival afterwards, because there is potential. »
