We, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, and the High Representative of the European Union, express our support to our partners in the Middle East in the face of unjustified attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies.
In accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2817, we strongly condemn the irresponsible attacks carried out by the Iranian regime against populations and civilian infrastructures, particularly energy infrastructure, in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, and Oman. These unjustifiable attacks by the Iranian regime against these states also pose a threat to regional and international security. We call for the immediate and unconditional cessation of all attacks carried out by the Iranian regime. We reaffirm the importance of preserving maritime routes and navigation security, especially in the Strait of Hormuz and all associated waterways, as well as the security and safety of supply chains and the stability of energy markets. We stand ready to take all necessary measures to support the global energy supply, such as the release of strategic reserves decided by the members of the International Energy Agency on March 11.
The G7 consistently asserts that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons, and it must halt its ballistic missile program, cease its destabilizing activities in the region and globally, and put an end to the repression and deplorable violence inflicted on its own people.
We support the right of countries unjustly attacked by Iran or its proxies to defend their territory and protect their citizens. We reaffirm our unwavering support for their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
We condemn the shameful attacks carried out by Iran and its militias in Iraq against diplomatic facilities and energy infrastructure, especially in the Iraqi Kurdistan region, as well as against American forces, coalition troops against Daesh, and the Iraqi population.
