The Euro-Mir attraction, almost 30 years old, has long acquired cult status among visitors. There was therefore great shock among fans when Europa-Park announced last year that the ride would soon be replaced.

Euro-Mir will remain in service until the end of the 2026 season, before the start of a vast transformation project. The project involves the complete dismantling of the current roller coaster in order to build a new attraction.

According to the site Baden24.deits opening is scheduled for 2028. The emblematic Euro-Mir towers, visible from afar, should be preserved in a similar form, said park spokesperson Leah Borer. Maintaining rotating wagons is also considered.

What future for the soundtrack?

One detail particularly concerns enthusiasts: the music “Project Euromir – Lift off!” Many fear seeing this much-loved piece disappear with the closure of the attraction.

For the moment, no official decision has been announced. The park simply indicated that it was aware of the iconic status of this soundtrack. It remains to be seen whether it will also accompany the future attraction during its inauguration.

Reconstruction at the current Euro-Mir site became necessary because the roller coaster has reached the end of its technical lifespan. The new attraction must integrate modernized technology as well as a new layout.

Its name should also change. The entire area around the ride will remain dedicated to the space universe. For this project, the park wishes to collaborate with the European Space Agency (ESA). (vro/trad.jzs)
