The Revolutionary Guards, Iran’s ideological army, promised on Wednesday May 20 to extend the war “au-delí of the region” of the Middle East if the United States and Israel attacked the country again. “If the aggression against Iran is repeated, the promised regional war will this time extend far beyond the region, and our devastating blows will crush you”wrote the Revolutionary Guards in a press release published on their Sepah News site.
Donald Trump again threatened on Tuesday to strike Iran if an agreement was not reached with this country, with the Iranian army promising to open “new fronts” if the United States resumed its attacks. The American president repeated that he hoped not to have to go to war. “But we might have to give them another big hit. I’m not sure yet.”he told reporters at the White House. Qatar had earlier called forr “more time” to diplomacy to resolve the conflict.
For its part, the Israeli government is not opposed to a resumption of the conflict and new strikes in Iran. The war objectives announced by Benjamin Netanyahu have not been achieved and the nuclear program has not been destroyed. At this stage, the Iranian campaign is, from the Israeli point of view, a failure and the Israeli Prime Minister cannot afford, in the middle of an electoral year, to run again without having kept his commitments.
