  • Tensions in the Middle East remain high on Wednesday May 20, almost three months after the start of the war.
  • The situation could push the government to review the 6 billion euros in savings planned, according to Sébastien Lecornu.
  • What should you expect? The response from Nicolas Doze, LCI economics columnist.

Sébastien Lecornu said on Tuesday May 19 that he was considering reviewing the 6 billion euros in freezes and cancellations of credits planned to compensate for the“impact” of the war in the Middle East on public finances. “The operations of our armed forces throughout the area create expenses and impacts on public finances”explained the Prime Minister.

This Wednesday, May 20, Nicolas Doze, LCI economics columnist, returns to the declarations of the tenant of Matignon. “Mid-April, we learned that we had to make 6 billion euros in savings. We explained that there would be 4 billion freezes or cancellations of credits on state spending and two billion on social spending”recalls the specialist.

In the sequence to be found at the top of this article, Nicolas Doze points out a certain vagueness after the Prime Minister’s declarations. Details are expected to be revealed in June.
