American Vice President JD Vance assured this Tuesday, May 19 that “good progress” was being made in discussions with Iran, while repeating that Washington had its “finger on the trigger”.

He made the remarks during a press conference at the White House, shortly after Donald Trump said he was an hour away from ordering a massive attack on Iran on Monday.

The American president also said on Tuesday that he was giving Tehran “two or three days” to find an agreement.

“We are in a pretty good position”

“There is good progress, but we will continue to work and in the end, we will either have an agreement or we will not have one,” said JD Vance, who is part of the team of negotiators appointed by Donald Trump to try to end the conflict with Iran.

“We are in a pretty good position, but there is a plan B, and plan B is to relaunch the military operation,” said the vice-president, whose reluctance in the face of this war is known.

“We have our finger on the trigger. We don’t want to take this path but the president is determined to do it and he is able to do it if necessary,” he declared.
