The Bourgades Neighborhood Committee is organizing the 4th Art Walks in the Gardens on Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31. And it will be this year in the Bourgades district.
The objective of the event is to present the work of artists, from the region but also from elsewhere, in private gardens exceptionally open to the public. Around 1,000 visitors over two days took part in previous editions.
This new edition will bring together 49 artists: 31 painters, 14 sculptors and 4 photographers. They will be distributed in 12 gardens as well as in the courtyard of the Parc nursery school. The organizers received 120 applications this year.
The event, initiated by the Gide Neighborhood Committee in 2023, has since been held alternating between the Gide district and the Bourgades district. Supported by residents, the event is supported by the town hall, the Pays d’Uzès community of communes and the municipal culture office. A catalog of the event, produced by volunteers from the neighborhood committee, will be on sale for 5 euros at the different event reception points in the Bourgades district. Part of the profits will be donated to the association being there ASP Gard.
Philippe Vasseur will be the guest of honor for this edition. A painter for over 30 years, he exhibits all over the world and divides his life between Paris and Uzès, where his studio is located. The street artist Jay7 will perform a live performance on a wall of the Parc school. Students from the Parc school will also participate in a drawing activity offered by volunteers from Les Bourgades.
In addition, three prizes will be awarded to the artists at the end of the event: a public prize, the Bourgades prize, awarded by the residents of the district, and the jury prize chaired by Philippe Vasseur. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday May 31 at 6 p.m. at Place Tour du Roy, followed by a concert by the Uzeian pop-rock group the Black Cats.
Tours are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
