Leon Panetta, former CIA director, was a guest on LCI on Friday, May 15th.
He criticized the American intervention in Iran, stating that the goal of regime change was not supported by intelligence information.
Regarding the conflict’s deadlock, he believes that sending the military is now the only solution to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Panetta expressed astonishment at President Trump’s surprise over the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. He stated that a military approach should have been taken from the beginning. He emphasized the need for military force to resolve the situation.
He mentioned that if there is an agreement, he does not trust the Iranian regime to respect it, leading to a potential future war between the US and Israel.
Panetta also discussed the complex relationship between the US and Israel in potential peace agreements, highlighting Israel’s difficult position in ending the war.
