« Engine… Ça turn! HAS” In a house located on the outskirts of Entrecasteaux, Bertrand launches the shot before a quick: « Action ! » In front of the camera, Swan and Pauline act out a scene while the rest of the team gets busy around the shoot. Since Tuesday May 12, the village of Center Var lives to the rhythm of cinema thanks to the short film festival organized by the Entrecasteaux tout court association.

The concept: two teams of five to six people have five days to imagine, shoot and edit a short film entirely made in the town. No imposed theme, but only one rule, make D’Entrecasteaux the main setting of the film. The works will be screened this Saturday, May 16 in the evening before a jury chooses the winner.

Since Tuesday, the first filming sessions have been taking place in the alleys of the village. Between two impromptu briefings, the teams rehearse their scenes before the start. But sometimes you have to deal with gusts of wind which disrupt the sockets. After several tries, relief finally fell behind the camera: “Cut, the plan is good! HAS”

At the origin of this project, Catherine Huteaupresident of the organizing association. After a successful first edition last year, the event returns with the same ambition: bringing Entrecasteaux to life through cinema. “The goal is to liven up the village, to make it known and to encourage cinematic creation.”she explains.

Ici, everything works thanks to volunteers, residents and traders who sometimes lend their premises for filming. The teams are also fed and housed throughout the duration of the festival. Among the participants, Bertrand, Pauline, Adil, Pedro, Hector and Swan already know the event well. Last year’s winnersthey were reinvited for this second edition.

In the other team, Justine, Bassem, Carla, Dana and Juliette discover the festival and its intensive operation for the first time. Their short film takes an approach that is both sensitive and human, around the meeting and links between the characters, in the setting of the village of Entrecasteaux. « We wanted to talk about lonelinessbut in a more general way »summarizes Justine, the director of the project.

A story that combines fiction and immersion in reality, with the desire tofully integrate the inhabitants and the setting of the village into the story. An approach that participants experience as a collective adventure and a real field of experimentation.

A few meters away, Carla, recruited thanks to a theater group in Salernes, discovers the backstage of a film shoot. “I had never done this before, but I thought: why not? It’s a great experience.”she smiled.

For Bassem, a master’s student and audiovisual enthusiast, the atmosphere makes all the difference. “Filming here is not like filming in Paris. There is a closeness with people, something more sincere.”he confides.

Until today, the teams have continued to film and edit before the final screening open to the public, at 7 p.m. in the cultural space. For a week, Entrecasteaux was transformed into a real cinema set.
