Ayyoub Bouaddi is now fully eligible for the 2026 World Cup. As reported by RMC Sport on Thursday evening, the Lille midfielder has opted for Morocco over France for his sporting nationality. The only thing left was to obtain one final validation.
In a statement, the FRMF officially confirmed the news. “The Royal Moroccan Football Federation received, on Friday, May 15, 2026, the decision of the player status chamber (CSJ) under the jurisdiction of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) dated May 15, 2026 announcing the acceptance of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation’s request regarding the change of sporting nationality of player Ayoub Bouaddi who plays for LOCS Lille (France).”
He can play in the World Cup with Morocco
In other words, this leads to the “official and immediate qualification of Ayoub Bouaddi to represent the national team of Morocco in various international competitions,” the statement clarifies. And so for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
As a semi-finalist in the last World Cup, Morocco will face Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti in the group stage. Mohamed Ouahbi, appointed to lead the selection after Walid Regragui’s departure, has not yet announced the list of players selected to prepare for the competition with the Atlas Lions.
