A tangled puzzle for authorities before the last match of the season. Since the official announcement of PSG’s title, negotiations have been ongoing among all stakeholders for the organization of Sunday’s celebrations. Even though PFC initially refused to host the celebrations in their stadium on Sunday evening, and to see PSG players lift the Ligue 1 trophy at Jean Bouin, a turnaround could happen.
In this matter, following the league regulations, it is the LFP that will decide who and where the festivities will be organized, with PSG having a significant say as well. The Jean Bouin stadium is still a leading option, which would greatly simplify logistics. The LFP is also pushing to have a celebration on Sunday night, to showcase a positive image of the championship and allow Ligue 1+ to broadcast the festivities. The Jean Bouin option is still alive, as indicated by sources within PSG.
As reported by RMC Sport, PSG had proposed to the Police Prefecture to open Parc only for the party before facing a refusal due to security reasons: relocating thousands of supporters in a very restricted area within minutes is not easy and poses risks.
“The clubs commit to hosting the ceremonies.” The Professional Football League has therefore sent a request to PFC to host the traditional trophy presentation ceremony at their venue for PSG. But according to our information, the promoted club’s leaders may not be in favor of this scenario. Paris FC plans to organize a party to bid farewell to some of their players whose contracts are ending.
However, according to the LFP regulations, PFC may not have a choice. Article 523, paragraph 5 states that “the Professional Football League organizes the collective and individual trophies ceremonies of LFP competitions” and that “these trophy presentations are organized according to a protocol and marketing specifications designed to promote football and competitions.”
