Ukraine: Emmanuel Macron denounces "hypocrisy" of Russia which "doesn’t know how to end his war of aggression"

  • Emmanuel Macron posted a message on X in reaction to the vast Russian drone and missile attack which left eight people dead and around forty injured last night in kyiv.
  • “Russia is making its aggression a little more serious,” notes the French president, who assures the Ukrainian people of France’s support.

He recalls that it is about “the biggest strike of the last four years”. Emmanuel Macron was outraged Thursday by the vast drone and missile attack launched overnight by Moscow in Ukraine, in which eight people were killed and around forty others injured. “Russia is further aggravating the crime of its aggression. It is revealing all the hypocrisy with which it negotiated the fragile truce of the last days”écrit le président français.

“By bombing civilians, Russia demonstrates less its strength than its weakness: it is short of solutions on the military front and does not know how to end its war of aggression“, he adds while this week, his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin affirmed that the conflict “was heading towards its end”.

Emmanuel Macron, who has received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on several occasions, recalls that “France stands alongside Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and will continue to mobilize to obtain a cessation of hostilities and bring about a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, which guarantees its security and that of Europe”.

“While Russia openly mocks diplomatic efforts, we continue to strengthen Ukraine”also reacted on X the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, deploring “another night of death and destruction”.
