Arbeloa calls on Mbappé to show “his commitment” on the field

The Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa called on Wednesday French striker Kylian Mbappé, criticized by the Spanish press and many Madrid supporters, to show “his commitment” on the field in the last three Liga matches of the season.

“Will Mbappé play tomorrow (against Oviedo)? We will see if he finishes the training session today, he did it yesterday. If he is available, he will certainly have minutes to play to continue showing his commitment to our club and play the remaining three matches despite his four yellow cards (a fifth would result in a suspension),” Arbeloa said in a press conference.

“As a Madridista, before being a coach, I would like to see him continue to do what he knows best: score goals,” added the Madrid coach about his top scorer, absent on Sunday in the Clasico lost to FC Barcelona, because he has not fully recovered from his hamstring injury.

The Barça responds with a threatening statement

During his press conference on Tuesday, Florentino Perez reiterated the Negreira case, expressing surprise that the investigation has not been resolved. FC Barcelona, implicated in this saga, threatens to take legal action against the Real Madrid president.

The Blaugrana club quickly responded in a statement, indicating that they might potentially take legal action. “Regarding the press conference held by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, we inform you that our legal department is carefully examining his statements and accusations. These are currently being analyzed and the necessary steps are under evaluation. When appropriate, the adopted positions and decisions will be communicated,” Barça warned, determined not to be stepped on.

End of the press conference

After an hour of rather unexpected discussions, Florentino Perez’s press conference has ended. He did not talk about sports, barely mentioned the Tchouaméni-Valverde issue. He mainly attacked journalists and denounced a media conspiracy against Real Madrid and himself.
