La députée insoumise Mathilde Panot

The rebellious MP Mathilde Panot strongly criticized the French diplomatic approach, denouncing the absence of coercive measures against Israel despite military operations in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, while Paris has increased sanctions against Moscow.

She particularly insisted on the distinction made by the French government between Russia and Israel in terms of sanctions and convictions.

Conversely, she highlighted the total absence of comparable sanctions against the Jewish state despite, in her words, repeated violations of international law.

Panot mentioned the accelerated colonization of occupied Palestine, the military operations in South Lebanon and the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza to illustrate her remarks on what she calls a

Israeli bombings on Lebanese territory have caused the death of more than two thousand five hundred people and forced more than a million residents into internal exile since the beginning of March.

Furthermore, the ground offensive launched by the IDF in the south of the country follows exchanges of cross-border fire with Hezbollah. The region also remains under tension following the air strikes carried out jointly by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iran at the end of February.

American President Donald Trump recently announced a three-week extension of this suspension of hostilities between the Jewish state and Lebanon, following high-level talks held at the White House.

In the Gaza Strip, a similar arrangement supervised by the Americans has been theoretically in force since October 10, putting an end to twenty-four months of conflict which left seventy-two thousand dead, mostly women and children, as well as one hundred and seventy-two thousand injured.
