Since Wednesday, Iranian airstrikes have caused significant damage to the world’s largest gas complex in Qatar and targeted a Saudi Aramco-ExxonMobil refinery in Saudi Arabia. Tehran retaliated against Israeli strikes on its own gas facilities.

Statements by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggesting that Washington could soon lift sanctions on Iranian oil shipments to increase global supply and lower prices were not enough to reassure markets.
The Middle East conflict escalation contributed to surging gas and oil prices, with EuroStoxx 50 volatility index jumping over 10% to above 30 points.
