Brittany: “Music allows you to heal from trauma”, the Kam duo will release a new EP, Agapé

À la scène and in the studio she is Maya, he is The Key and they constitute the Kam duo.

To life they are SÅ“ur et fr¨eroriginally from Savenay in Loire-Atlantique. Have been very close since their early childhood. “Kiki (that’s what she affectionately calls her, Editor’s note) sang to me in my cradle“, confides Lina Ramdin. We’ve been singing and playing together forever.”

She plays piano since he was 8-9 years old, he guitarpiano, bass “ and a little drums, all by ear…” specifies Kiran Ramdin. The brother and sister add:  Mom sang a lot, Dad led a group of young people who played rock, music had a good place in the house. ”

A new artistic direction

Après différentes expériences et opus, le duo a trouvé sa artistic direction (DA) two years ago.  We wanted show that music allows you to get better and heal from trauma. Our music is a base of rap to which we add elements of rock, electro, techno, pop… As if we were adding colors to a palette. Things that, in principle, we don’t associate…,” explains Kiran Ramdin.

“In general, Kiki does the basics and we both write, sometimes together, sometimes separately and we flesh it out in the studio,” says Lina Ramdin. At studio Althemy right next to my house, a professionally designed home studio with Yukaï, our sound engineer for six years .

It was in this studio that thefive-track EP Soonwhich is scheduled for release on June 12 (listen to on all platforms and on the duo’s YouTube channel).  It is part of a virtuous circle process that we launched two years ago. Two EPs have already been released: Angerwhich means anger in Swedish, in October 2024, with which we have associated fire, Jacobwhich means deep sadness in ancient Egyptian, in March 2025, it is water. In 2027, we will release the fourth, Hiwapeace in Japanese, associating it with air. »

And this third, Agapé ?  It’s unconditional love in modern Greek. We associated the earth with it. For each project an instrumental title which situates the mythology that we have chosen. Soonit is the sign of emotional renewal, in search of an answer to an essential question: how to let your heart open after it has been trampled by life? The charred soil has drunk the rain and now vegetation is taking over.”

Five titles

The first piece, OStalks about “how alive we feel when we start loving again against all odds ”, the second, Hit Parade“captures the quiet certainty thatthe right person is there », the troisième, Without you« évoque the sweet anguish of seeing an interior garden die which has barely budded…, the fourth, Métis“It’s the end of quicksand and storms, the discovery of a world of greenery more and more luxuriant…

And the last one, Scars (which will be released on May 29) “ crystallizes the moment when scars become compost. Love, which we treat in many forms, is a powerful feeling: it can help us to exorcise our demons. »

The Key and Maya talk a little about their I livedof things felt and buried things that they want to express… “We like each part of a song to say something. Concerts

 We are lauréats of the call for projects from the Wam (We art minds) Creative Bank, installed in the Capucins workshops, which is supporting us this year. We were able to recently organize an intimate acoustic concert there for the first time listening to Agapé. »

If the dad is still the manager of the duo, she is now the photographer Camille Lefeuvre (by.camcamm) who produces the visuals, from the new DA.

The duo will be in concert on June 13 at the Bouge festival. Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), June 21 for the Music Festival of Brestin the afternoon, at Cours Dajot, on June 26 at 6 p.m. at Bouillon-Jaurès in Brest and on July 13 in the village of Lampaul-Guimiliau before the fireworks.
