The Canadian mixed 4x100m team won its qualifying heat on Saturday in Botswana at the World Relay Championships. At the same time, it established a new global brand, which however did not last long.

The quartet composed of Eliezer Adjibi, Marie-Éloise Leclair, Duan Asemota, and Audrey Leduc crossed the finish line at 40.08 seconds. This new record was, however, improved a few moments later by Jamaica, who covered the distance in 39.99 s.

Canada is the defending champion in this new event. He won gold in 2025 with a time of 40.30 s, ahead of Jamaica (40.44 s) and Great Britain (40.88 s).

Leduc and Leclair also combined their efforts with those of Sade McCreath and Donna Ntambue in the 4 x 100 m. The country qualified for the final with its 2nd place in its heat in 42.39 seconds.

The Canadian relay runners also took 1st place in their 4 x 400 m group. Dianna Proctor stopped the clock at 3 min 23 sec 52/100, supported by Grace Konrad, Jasneet Nijjar and Lauren Gale.

For the men, Canadians Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney, Jerome Blake and Andre De Grasse took 1st place in their heat, in 37.56 seconds. This is the fastest time recorded this season. They also punch their admission ticket for the final.

The top 12 teams from each of the 6 events – the men’s, women’s and mixed 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m – earn their ticket to the 2027 World Championships in Beijing.

The finals will take place on Sunday. HERE Tou.tv presents the competitions live (nouvelle fenêtre) (no comments).
