Beyond the fight between Tchouaméni and Valverde, Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius also reportedly had a heated exchange on Thursday during Real Madrid’s training session.

“Madrid in turmoil,” reads the front page of the Catalan sports daily Sport on Friday morning. Ahead of the Clasico scheduled for Sunday evening (9:00 PM), where FC Barcelona could officially become Spanish champions for the 29th time in their history, it must be admitted that all is not well at Real Madrid. After another disappointing season, the Madrid dressing room definitvely exploded on Thursday with the altercation between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde.

The Madrid club has decided to open disciplinary proceedings against its two midfielders after the incident, described as “the most serious ever seen at Real Madrid” by the Madrid press, which sent the Uruguayan international to the hospital. Suffering from a head injury, Fede Valverde must observe a period of 10 to 14 days of rest and will not be able to play in the Clasico on Sunday.

But this incident was not the only one to disturb Thursday’s training session, which could go down in the history of the Merengue club. According to the Spanish media OkDiario, tensions also rose between Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius. The two players reportedly had a heated exchange after a physical duel, which did not escalate into a fight but was marked by shouting and a heated exchange.

It is high time for the season to end at Real Madrid, even if it is uncertain whether the World Cup and the holidays will be enough to ease tensions in the Merengue dressing room, where the point of no return seems to have been reached. According to Cadena Ser, the Madrid executives do not plan to sell Kylian Mbappé or Vinicius in order to restore calm at Valdebebas, but efforts to reshape the squad are expected to be significant this summer. The next Real Madrid coach, as Alvaro Arbeloa is unlikely to continue, will need to find a way for the two stars to play together. Easier said than done.
