The Friends of the Céret Museum invite the public to take part in the 2nd edition of “Come and draw the plane trees”. A day of creation open to all, dedicated to one of the city’s most emblematic symbols.
True witnesses to local history, the plane trees of Céret line the boulevards and have, for generations, offered their characteristic shade to residents and visitors alike. Their majestic silhouette and calming presence have inspired many artists, making these trees an essential element of the Céretian landscape.
Open to all
It is therefore quite natural that they become the central subject of this artistic day concocted by the Friends of the museum. From 9 a.m., in front of the cultural building, everyone can sit down to draw, interpret or reinvent them, with their own materials or those made available by the organizers. “We want this to be a shared moment of creation, accessible to all“, insist the organizers. Before the works created are exhibited, transforming the surroundings of the museum into an open-air gallery. All in the presence of Damien Deroubaix, artist sponsor of the event, who “will enrich this encounter between art and nature“. By inviting everyone to take a fresh look at these plane trees which are the soul of the Catalan city.
A time for discussion
In addition to the event, at 3 p.m., a discussion with Damien Deroubaix, moderated by Paul B. Franklin, president of the Friends of the Museum, will be held in the auditorium of the Museum of Modern Art, offering the public insight into his work and his inspirations (free upon presentation of the day’s ticket).
