Real Madrid en crise : violentes altercations entre joueurs
This time it’s certain, Real Madrid is in total crisis. What started as sporting difficulties for the Merengues quickly turned into personal issues, with tensions among players. The situation escalated in recent days, culminating in violent altercations between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde on Wednesday and Thursday at the club’s training center. Insults, dangerous tackles, and ultimately, a fight in the locker room… The two midfielders clashed several times, leading to the hospitalization of the Uruguayan international, who suffered a cranial trauma and was advised by doctors to rest for about two weeks. As Real Madrid initiates disciplinary proceedings against the two players, the Spanish press is ablaze this Friday morning.
Starting with Marca, which headlines “Another fight… And the image on the ground” in today’s edition, mentioning the total loss of control by the Madrid leaders over the club’s usually classy and controlled public image. Describing the situation as “unprecedented crisis,” the sports newspaper believes that the altercation between Tchouaméni and Valverde “confirms the clear deterioration of internal harmony at a particularly delicate moment for the team.” “Currently, the atmosphere at Real Madrid is extremely tense,” writes the reference media covering the club’s news in Spain, not without mentioning the incident as the “most serious ever seen at Valdebebas”, the training center.
A team “divided into two camps”
AS echoes the same sentiment, mentioning an “unprecedented crisis.” “Tchouaméni attacked Valverde after training. The Uruguayan, traumatized, accuses the Frenchman of leaking information,” reads the headline of the Madrid daily, while Mundo Deportivo talks about a “broken locker room.” El Pais is not short of revelations, claiming that the team would be “divided into two clans”: on one side, the anti-Xabi Alonso team, which allegedly pushed for the former Real coach’s departure and includes players like Vinicius and Valverde, among others. On the other side, the anti-Alvaro Arbeloa team, the interim coach, composed notably of the French players like Tchouaméni and Kylian Mbappé. This faction has reportedly “severed its ties” with Alonso’s successor.
According to the generalist newspaper, Real Madrid’s top brass is currently searching for a mole, believing that “traitors” inside the locker room want to “harm the club.” In the corridors of Valdebebas, there is a strong belief that the fight between Tchouaméni and Valverde was leaked to the press by a player from the squad.
The tension in Madrid is far from easing, as the season’s final major showdown approaches: the Clasico against FC Barcelona, scheduled for this Sunday, May 10th at the Camp Nou.
