The Coco-girls have left their mark on a whole generation! This girl band from the 80s, created by Stéphane Collaro, enjoyed great success, even going so far as to tour in the 90s. “They’re not sad to look at, but we’ll hear them too. Because it annoys me to see beautiful girls treated like puppets in television shows. The four that I have, I’m going to try to make them the darlings of the viewers. I’m going to make them talk, move, dance, sing. I want them to be sexy and funny”, explained Stéphane Collaro, in October 1982. Un pari pluto´t réussi!

As a reminder, the first coco-girls were Sophie Favier (1982-1984), Terry Shane (1982-1984), Natasha Guineaudeau (1982-1985) and Nathalie Tardivel (1982-1987). Over the years, others arrived.

Sophie Favier reveals how she became a Coco-girl

This Sunday, May 3, 2026, Sophie Favier spoke in the podcast of Destiny of Women. At the microphone of Valérie Perez, the 62-year-old host tells how her meeting with Jean-Claude Corbineau changed her life. To the question “How do we get there, coco girl?” Sophie Favier responds: “On a beach in Saint-Tropez. I went on vacation for a few days with my mother and my father-in-law who was Italian and who worked for very famous boats all made of sublime wood, like you always see in Venice for example. And we delivered a boat to a rich American.”

A mission which led to this famous meeting. “So we went to lunch with this gentleman at the Tahiti beach and I met Jean-Claude Corbineau who was at the time at Monsieur Grizzled, who told me: “Here my wife is called Catherine, she is a casting director and I think she is going to call you because you really fit the profile. Stéphane Collaro is looking for young women exactly like you'”, she says.

But what exactly was Stéphane Collaro looking for? “He was looking for pretty women. So I was 18 years old and I lived in Lyon and it was a good fit because I could do the casting. I wanted to enroll in college because I wanted to become a lawyer and I didn’t have time because I was actually selected. So I kissed a completely different career“, she explains.

Did Sophie Favier feel respected during these Coco-girl years?

When Valérie Perez asks Sophie Favier if she felt respected during this period, the latter responds without hesitation: “Frankly yes.” Before adding: “We really didn’t have time. So obviously with jokes, swear words. I don’t think that would happen today. It was a bit saucy all the same. It was the whole gang of Philippe Bouvardthey were jokers.”

If Sophie Favier has good memories of these Coco-girl years, the host still recognizes that this celebrity was not always easy to manage: “You suddenly become famous with the money that also comes with the salary. It’s important when you’re young you want to have a little bit of money to have fun. I didn’t have time to have fun because I was working all the time.” An intense pace of life which created a great feeling of solitude.
