The public establishment Paris La Défense takes a new step in the transformation of business district with the launch of a tender aiming to reinvent the Parvis, located at the foot of the Great Arch of Defense. The objective is to energize this strategic space through a placemaking device reconciling animation, attractiveness and flexibility of use.
After the delivery of the central square in 2023 and the launch of the future Esplanade park in 2025, this initiative is part of a global requalification of the historic axis linking the Louvre Museum to La Défense.
A strategic space at the heart of flows
With its 1.3 hectares, the Parvis constitutes a nerve center of the district, located above the train station. Defense – frequented by nearly 500,000 travelers per day – and between centers Westfield Les 4 Temps et CNIT. Every week, 1.5 million people pass through it.
Until now designed as a mineral and open space, capable of hosting large events, the site must now evolve towards a living space that is identifiable and appropriate for all. There consultation aims to select a designer-operator capable of making it an attractive destination, without compromising its vocation as a multi-use forum.
A flexible and use-oriented project
The future system must integrate modular layoutseasily dismantled or movable, in order to preserve the versatility of the site. Among the expected criteria are the creation of relaxation spaces, shaded and planted areas, as well as furniture adapted to different times of the day.
The events component also constitutes a central axis: sports activities, family entertainment, afterwork meeting or weekend programming will have to contribute to giving rhythm to the life of the neighborhood.
A affirmed environmental ambition
In accordance with its transition strategy, Paris Defense imposes strict requirements onéco-conception. Projects should prioritize materials réemployableslimit their carbon footprint and integrate solutions promoting climatic comfort.
This approach is part of the ambition to make La Défense a post-carbon business districtreconciling economic attractiveness, quality of life and environmental sobriety.
THE candidates have until June 22, 2026 to submit their offer. The winner will be entrusted with a three-year mission, with the objective of sustainably transforming one of the most emblematic spaces in Greater Paris.
