Lists for the second round deposited. Negotiations and deposits of lists were closed from Tuesday at 6 p.m. for the second round of municipal elections. The day was the subject of intense negotiations, in an electrifying atmosphere, but the situation is now fixed in all cities, sometimes with last-minute twists.
Knafo withdraws from Paris. In Paris, the far-right MEP Sarah Knafo announced that she was withdrawing. This could fuel hope for a “comeback” for the LR and Modem candidate, Rachida Dati, despite the 12.5 point gap recorded in the first round against the socialist Emmanuel Grégoire.
Delogu resists. In Marseille, the LFI candidate Sébastien Delogu (11.94%) finally threw in the towel facing the risk of a victory for RN Franck Allisio. The outgoing left-wing mayor Benoit Payan had rejected any alliance with him after narrowly leading in the first round (36.70%) against Franck Allisio (35.02%). Jean-Luc Mélenchon denounced “blind sectarianism” of Benoit Payan and praised the dedication of his protege “to the dignity of Marseille”.
Bombshell in Bordeaux: Dessertine withdraws. The outsider Philippe Dessertine, who refused to ally with Thomas Cazenave for the second round of municipal elections, finally did not submit a list, leaving the field open to the Macronist deputy against the outgoing Green mayor, Pierre Hurmic.
Alliances in Strasbourg. The outgoing Green mayor, Jeanne Barseghian, who was overtaken by former socialist mayor Catherine Trautmann, reached an agreement with LFI on Monday. But Catherine Trautmann, on her side, secured the support of Pierre Jakubowicz, a Horizons candidate supported by Renaissance.
In Lyon, Aulas declines a scheduled debate with the Green mayor. Jean-Michel Aulas, candidate in the municipal elections in Lyon, confirmed on Tuesday his refusal to participate in a debate between rounds with his rival, the Green mayor Grégory Doucet, on the grounds that the latter formed an alliance with LFI.
