On April 23, 2026, the Licra Bas-Rhin, presided over by Fabielle Angel, organized an exceptional evening around the screening in partnership with the Star cinema in Strasbourg, of the film “Furcy: a free man.”
This event, marked by the presence of director Abd Al Malik, brought together a large and enthusiastic audience eager for exchanges and reflections. The poignant and profound film immersed viewers in the story of Furcy, a symbol of the struggle for freedom and human dignity.
After the screening, a lively debate addressed universal themes: slavery, its painful legacy, as well as its modern forms, still present in our society. Abd Al Malik, through his inspiring and committed words, conveyed a message of hope and resistance, emphasizing that history, no matter how dark, must illuminate our present.
This evening, both cultural and militant, confirmed the importance of collective memory and dialogue in building a more just future.
A big thank you to the Star cinema for their hospitality and commitment, as well as to all the participants for their presence and enthusiasm. A strong proof that cinema, when meaningful, can be a powerful lever of awareness.
