Jacques Bouanich’s name adds to the list of scandals shaking the French audiovisual landscape. Known for his numerous appearances on television, notably in “Plus belle la vie,” the actor was sentenced on April 16, 2026 by the Paris Court of Appeal to four years in prison, including one year of house arrest with an electronic monitoring bracelet, for incestuous sexual assault.

This decision mirrors the initial ruling in 2024 but includes additional sanctions: loss of parental authority over his other minor daughter, a five-year ban on working with minors, and registration in the sex offender database. He must also compensate the victims and is prohibited from contacting them. This conviction comes at a time when gender-based violence continues to tarnish the image of the film and television industry.

Career in supporting roles: he was present on cinema, television, and dubbing. Behind this name is Jean-Jacques Bouanich, a familiar supporting actor on television. At 74, he has appeared in many popular productions, from “Hippocrate” to “Family Business” and the very popular “HPI.” Viewers have also seen him in various series alongside Michèle Bernier. Additionally, he has been active in voice dubbing, lending his voice to American actors like Kevin Pollak and William H. Macy.

Jacques Bouanich denies the allegations. According to the court, the assaults occurred over a long period, with his daughter being a victim from age 5 to 25 in Champigny-sur-Marne and other places in France. His former stepdaughter, aged 8 to 9 at the time, was also allegedly assaulted between 2011 and 2012. Despite the legal decision, the actor denies the accusations, citing financial motives. The court states that investigations into his personality did not reveal pedophilic traits. However, they also note that his denial makes it difficult to understand the context of the repeated acts on two young children within the family sphere. Jacques Bouanich has stated his intention to appeal to the Cassation Court.
