At 27, Arthur Rogé, originally from Toulouse, will represent France at the Y7, the “G7 of youth”. As an analyst at the International Energy Agency, he aims to put the ecological crisis at the center of international decisions in a world he describes as being in a “multicrisis”. He hopes to be heard by the leaders of the G7.

He will present his ideas to world leaders. This year, Arthur Rogé, from the suburbs of Toulouse, will represent France at the Y7, a youth summit linked to the G7, where he will address a burning issue: the ecological crisis. Selected by the Open Diplomacy Institute, Arthur Rogé will participate in the summit where delegates will negotiate from May 17 to 20. The outcome will be a communication addressed to the leaders of the world’s largest economic powers meeting in June in Évian.

At 27, this young man embodies an engaged generation that refuses to remain passive. From preparatory classes at the Lycée Pierre-de-Fermat in Toulouse, engineering school at the Arts et Métiers in Bordeaux, a double degree in aerospace engineering in London, to a Master’s at Sciences Po Paris specializing in international energy, he has paved his way.

Now working as an analyst at the International Energy Agency in Paris, he imagines global energy scenarios, far from the paths of Comminges where he used to visit his grandparents.

Transitioning from astrophysics to the climate emergency, his commitment is clear. He believes that energy lies at the heart of modern societies and CO₂ emissions. This redirection is a conscious choice to solve urgent problems of the present.

Arthur envisions possible futures at the International Energy Agency. He models global energy scenarios and works directly with governments. His aim is to explore possible energy futures and have a significant impact.

During the Y7, Arthur will present a broader vision of a world facing a “multicrisis”. A tangle of ecological, economic, geopolitical, and political crises that feed into each other. His goal is to bring the environmental issue back to the top of the international agenda, which he believes often gets overshadowed by immediate urgencies.

Carrying the voice of a new generation, Arthur has priorities to address at the June summit in Évian. He wants basic rights like access to water, clean air, and food to be acknowledged. He calls attention to a major paradox where public money is used more to destroy ecosystems than to protect them. He advocates for private sector mobilization, environmental cost integration in the economy, and a fair energy transition, especially towards developing countries.

To him, climate issues should not divide but unite. Taking action is imperative as inaction is no longer an option. His participation in the Y7 reflects this urgency to make youth voices heard and push decision-makers to act.

Perhaps, through his actions, Arthur can show his grandparents in Comminges that he is trying, on his scale, to mend the world.
