Despite increasingly structured healthcare pathways and high-level medical expertise in France, the management of patients with rare cancers can still face certain challenges. Using the example of rare head and neck cancers, this roundtable will highlight France’s strengths — organization, expert centers, recognized specialists, multidisciplinary consultations, etc. — as well as its weaknesses — delays in access to care and diagnostics despite urgent needs, territorial heterogeneity of healthcare pathways, integration of therapeutic innovations — in order to identify operational levers.

In short, how does a rare disease underscore broader barriers to patient care in oncology? And how can advances in the field of rare cancer treatment more broadly address identified needs in oncology?

To answer these questions, recognized specialists in head and neck cancers, a patient representative, and an oncology sector representative will speak at a roundtable organized by Pharmaceutiques. This will be followed by a focus on medical and clinical research in oncology, and the importance of collaboration between industry and expert centers.
