After financing the documentary “Melania” for a record amount, dedicated to the wife of the American president and which made headlines when it was released in February 2026, the streaming platform Amazon Prime “is considering relaunching the show The Apprentice, which helped make Donald Trump known to the general public” in the early 2000s, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Internal sources even told the journal that Amazon executives are in discussions to “entrust the hosting of the new episodes of the show to someone very close to President Trump,” who is none other than his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.

The current occupant of the White House hosted “this reality TV show in which candidates competed for a job, for 14 seasons on the NBC network” as the newspaper reminds us. The program fell under the umbrella of the giant Amazon when it acquired the film and television studios MGM in 2022.

Jeff Bezos, who stepped down as Amazon’s CEO in 2021 but remains the executive chairman, “has forged increasingly close ties with Donald Trump since the beginning of his second term,” the article notes. Amazon thus contributed “one million dollars to Donald Trump’s second inauguration in January 2025, and its boss attended the president’s swearing-in ceremony,” the journal emphasizes. Even this week, Jeff Bezos was among “the personalities invited by Donald Trump to the state dinner” at the White House, held in honor of King Charles III.
