In a context of increasingly constrained budgets for local authorities, the choice does not go unnoticed. Following the action taken by the mayor of Réalment, Sébastien Garrigues, the president of the 3CT, Véronique Maraval, has also decided to significantly reduce her allowance. With a declared intention of coherence and fairness, the elected official has reduced her allowance from 48.75% to 35% of the authorized ceiling. An adjustment that represents a monthly decrease of 600 euros “To be more in line with what the vice-presidents will receive,” she explains, placing this decision in a logic of sharing and responsibility. Beyond the symbolism, a few days before the budget vote scheduled for April 29, the 3CT, like many others, must deal with a delicate equation: rising expenses, revenues, and state allocations that struggle to keep up. In this climate, this reduction in allowances resonates as a political signal, a way to assert that effort can also come from the top. A stance that, without solving the financial constraints on its own, sets the tone for a term marked by prudence and a certain exemplarity.
