A crash in Lancaster County shut down a portion of Route 283 on Monday, as reported by the police. Occurring in the eastbound lanes near the Route 741/East Petersburg/Millersville exit in East Hempfield Township at 5:39 a.m., the collision involved a Subaru Outback driver who swerved to avoid hitting a deer and ended up striking an unoccupied Mercedes-Benz parked on the shoulder. Fortunately, the Subaru driver did not sustain any injuries. The scene of the incident was captured showing heavy fog in the vicinity.
Following the crash, all eastbound lanes of Route 283 were closed between the Route 722/Landisville exit and the Route 741/East Petersburg/Millersville exit for an extended period. However, the lanes were later reopened around 7:30 a.m. East Hempfield Township Police Department conducted the investigation and concluded that there were no traffic violations.
