The Lagos State Police Command is investigating a video circulating on social media that claims officers from the Lagos State Task Force, under the leadership of CSP Adetayo Akerele, are extorting money from motorists by seizing vehicles and creating fake traffic violations. The video, which became viral on Saturday, shows a police officer driving a vehicle with someone recording from the back seat. The video is accompanied by a caption accusing the officers of hijacking vehicles, framing false evidence, and demanding payments for bail. The victim in the video claims he was forced to pay ₦150,000 to prevent his vehicle from being impounded. The Lagos State Police Command has acknowledged the video and stated that a full investigation has been ordered by Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh. The Command appreciates the public for bringing the issue to their attention and assures that appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation outcome.
