The project involving multiple partners over several weeks took place at the IME in the West of Cransac. Among the participants was the IUT of Figeac, represented by Christophe Faijan, a social worker trainer responsible for guiding students towards the state diploma of specialized educator.
Christophe Faijan explained: “For the success of this project, we formed a partnership with three centers. The Foyer de Rouget-Perse and Larroquebrou, both located in Cantal, as well as the IME of Cransac. I am accompanied by two of my students, Rachel Ricaud and Clémence Merceron, who are preparing for a social work degree at the IUT of Figeac. They have alternately overseen this project.”
The two students added: “We have been working on this project alternately for ten weeks, in parallel with Freddy Ricci from the Decazeville association Hello Music.” Freddy Ricci mentioned: “Music is a common good and it is meant to be shared. At Hello Music, we work with young people from the IME of Cransac in our premises. We organize songwriting and cover workshops, accompanied by instruments.”
During these ten weeks, several rehearsals were organized with all the singers and instrumentalists from partner centers to master the songs and choreographies scheduled for the performance day. Freddy Ricci highlighted that the last rehearsal took place in the morning, at the same place as the concert in the afternoon.
Aurélie Somoza, project coordinator at the IME of Cransac, said: “We participate in music workshops with the IUT of Figeac supplemented by the musical mediation of Hello Music. Today, with the performance, we reach the end of this project and it is truly a pleasure for all participants, and those who supported them, to perform in front of such an audience of enthusiasts. The artists and facilitators are part of it.”
The artists and staff received a standing ovation before the event ended with a friendly buffet.
