More than ten days after the American blockade near the Strait of Hormuz was put in place, Washington intends to maintain pressure on Iran. “Iran has a significant choice to make, a chance to reach an agreement, a good agreement, a wise agreement. As part of this effort, the United States has imposed a firm blockade that is strengthening day by day,” announced Pete Hegseth, American Secretary of War.
A more diplomatic and united approach from European leaders, gathered in Cyprus this Friday. They have focused their demand on a return to stability in maritime terms. “Negotiations must continue. The Strait of Hormuz must reopen immediately, without restrictions or tolls,” declared Antonio Costa, President of the European Council.
The hope for reaching a peace agreement is revived with the arrival of the Iranian Foreign Minister in Pakistan on Friday, April 24 for discussions on the conflict. The United States also indicate that they will send envoys for talks. Finally, on Thursday evening, Donald Trump announced a three-week extension regarding the ceasefire in Lebanon. A very fragile situation. Two people died after an Israeli attack in the southern part of the country, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
