On this occasion, he criticized European countries that, according to him, have been benefiting for free from the “protection” of the United States. “Europe and Asia have been benefiting from our protection for decades. But that time is over,” he said.
“The United States and the free world deserve loyal allies, and being an ally is not a one-way street. We do not rely on Europe, but they need the Strait of Hormuz much more than we do,” he asserted. Before once again lashing out at Europeans: “They should talk less, organize fewer prestigious conferences, and instead get to work and be in the water.” And he insisted, “This is more their fight than ours.”
