Guy Debuisson, defender of Cedric Jubillar, along with his son Pierre and another famous lawyer from Lille, Frank Berton, believes that the fundamental principles of justice were not respected during the first trial in Albi. The Toulouse criminal lawyer outlines a defense strategy to be presented in court in September.

In an interview with La Depeche du Midi, Me Guy Debuisson was asked why he decided to defend Cedric Jubillar, given his previous involvement in other criminal cases. He explained that the complexity and exceptional nature of the case required additional support, not in terms of quality but in terms of logistics.

Regarding the upcoming trial, Debuisson emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of justice. He highlighted the need for concrete evidence to prove guilt and criticized the reliance on mere suspicion for conviction, stressing that innocence should prevail when proof is lacking.

Debuisson also addressed the accusations raised against Jubillar, including factors like the presence of moisture in a vehicle, neighbors hearing cries at night, barking dogs, and a car changing direction, emphasizing the insufficiency of these elements to establish guilt.

The addition of renowned criminal lawyer Frank Berton to the defense team was viewed as a valuable asset given his experience in criminal cases. Debuisson expressed alignment with Berton on the need to revisit the fundamental aspects of the case, especially in light of the initial court decision.

During a prison visit, Debuisson described Jubillar as severely affected by his prolonged isolation and medication, which impacted his ability to respond adequately during the trial. He hoped that by September, Jubillar would be in a better position to contest his guilt and improve his living conditions in detention.
