Union Foot de Touraine – Avoine OCC: 0-1

A new leader in Regional 1. While Saint-Cyr was defeated on Saturday in Bourges (3-0) and the match between Saint-Jean-le-Blanc and Mainvilliers was canceled at the last minute due to a minibus breakdown, AOCC had a golden opportunity to seize. And Armand Raimbault’s team did just that by winning this Sunday in Ballan-Miré against the Union Foot de Touraine reserve team (0-1).

Only one goal was needed and the Véronais scored it right from the start with a powerful header by Essis into the corner of Legrand’s goal, from a corner taken by Abdallah (0-1, 2nd minute). The toughest task was probably done for the best defense in the group (9 goals conceded in 23 matches). However, they were still looking to quickly secure the win against a rather fragile defense from Touraine. Marmin came close to taking advantage but he shot too wide (9th minute).

Badirou hits the crossbar

While the UFT players often had control of the ball, they were too inaccurate and made mistakes against the Avoinais’ pressure. The crossbar of Legrand’s goal saved the Blue and Yellow team from a heavy shot by Badirou (28th minute). The former Tours FC player had the opportunity to redeem himself a few seconds later, after a nice one-two with Abdallah, but Legrand was decisive, quickly diving at his feet (30th minute).
