Do Not Blink
“You must not blink,” advises Candice, who watches the match with five friends at a nearby table, wearing a Boxers jersey. “But every action is breathtaking.” A resident of Latresne, she has been following the Boxers for three years, after previously frequenting the south end at Girondins de Bordeaux and the stands at Chaban to support the UBB. Her table companions? She met them at the rink during a Boxers game. Candice witnessed the club’s rise to power, leading up to this historic victory.

“Tonight is victory.” None of the supporters at La Cage will settle for less. Even though a defeat could have led to a new round and the prospect of a home victory. “We were looked down upon at the beginning of the season,” remembers Marion. The Boxers had lost nine consecutive matches. Now, everyone wants Bordeaux to beat Grenoble! With these difficult beginnings, Florian even thought he was the “cursed supporter” as he started following the club.
This Saturday, the united Boxers supporters at La Cage never really doubted, closely watching every move on the giant 40m² screen. Of course, there were some tense moments, like when the Brûleurs de Loups brought the score to 1-2. “It’s still Grenoble, don’t forget,” smiles Alice. Ultimately, the Boxers controlled the game.
