The rectorate of Djamaa El-Djazair praised, in a statement on Monday, the visit by Pope Leon XIV to this building, considering it a significant stop representing the global recognition of its religious and civilizational influence and solidifying its international position from now on.
The rectorate of Djamaa El-Djazair appreciated Algeria being chosen as the first stop on the African tour of the Sovereign Pontiff, emphasizing that this visit had “profound symbolism” as a renewed opportunity to promote dialogue between civilizations and strengthen bridges of understanding among people.
Pope Leon XIV’s visit highlights “the historical depth of Algeria, which has never denied its civilizational past and human heritage while remaining committed to its religion, Islam, its national authenticity, and its religious reference of moderation and balance shared with the countries of North Africa and the Sahel, making it a space that carries a message of balance and moderation, the same source adds.
Additionally, Djamaa El-Djazair reiterated its “commitment to contributing to the promotion of a culture of dialogue and rapprochement between cultures and civilizations, in service of human dignity and the promotion of peace and coexistence values, in a world aspiring to progress, prosperity, and more security and stability.”
