Another woman has accused former Rep. Eric Swalwell of drugging and raping her in 2018, after offering to help advance her career. Swalwell recently resigned from Congress amid prior allegations of sexual misconduct, which he denies, calling them politically motivated. The woman, identified as Lonna Drewes, detailed the incident at a news conference in Beverly Hills, alleging that Swalwell drugged her drink and assaulted her in a hotel room. She stated that fear of his power and background as an attorney delayed her taking action. Swalwell’s attorney has vehemently denied the allegations, characterizing them as a smear campaign. Multiple women have come forward with similar accusations, prompting investigations and calls for Swalwell’s expulsion. The allegations have had ripple effects across Capitol Hill, leading to the resignation of other lawmakers, including Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales, who also faced sexual misconduct allegations.
