Nîmes Olympique
Injuries and a virus. After suffering a defeat last Saturday against Saint-Maur Lusitanos (1-2), the Crocodiles resumed training with Hyères in sight. In the Var, the Nîmois will have to bounce back to stay in the race for promotion, just before welcoming AS Cannes the following weekend. But one thing at a time, and on Tuesday morning at La Bastide, the Nîmes staff had to do without the services of attackers Kéba Sylla, who had a calf injury, Bissourou Touré, who had a stiff neck, and Najib Bennour who was sick. These players together have scored 11 goals and made eight assists. “It’s annoying because they are three important players and I hope to recover them during the week,” lamented Mickaël Gas, the Nîmes coach, who will also have to do without Pablo Martinez, injured in the index finger of the right hand.
Olympique d’Alès in the Cévennes
One player missing but more observers. On Tuesday morning, the Cévennes were training at Pibarot for the morning session, an opportunity to review a group of 17 players today. As for the absentees, Evan Paulet remains injured, as well as Uygar Barut, who has been absent since last week. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Assoumin continues to resume running with the fitness trainer. Finally, Mathias André was injured in the last match with the reserves, while Enzo Fontaine missed out due to injury. In preparation for the upcoming match against Fos-sur-Mer, the Alésians worked in small groups, engaging in attacking and defending games, transition drills, and finally ending with a scrimmage. The session was observed from the stands by young people from the Alès Mission locale, who, as part of their sports masterclass, will discover various professions in sports throughout the month of April, thanks to a partnership with OAC. About twenty young people aged 16 to 25 were able to attend the training session, then meet the players and staff in the afternoon to discuss their professions and ask questions to the club’s personnel. This collaboration will continue tomorrow with the structural side of the city hall and other aspects of the club.
USAM Nîmes Gard
General mobilization. On the occasion of the French handball Cup semi-final, which will take place this Wednesday, April 15th at 8 pm at the Parnasse, USAM Nîmes Gard is calling for a general mobilization. Season ticket holders benefit from a 50% discount and have the opportunity to retain their usual seat for this decisive match. Club members can take advantage of special offers in the form of ticket packages, with advantageous prices starting from the purchase of 2 or 4 tickets. “Through these measures, the club affirms its desire to rally all its forces around this common goal: to earn the right to play an exceptional final at the Accor Arena in Paris Bercy. The club calls on all Nîmois and supporters to be present to push our players and offer them a final opportunity,” explains USAM Nîmes Gard in a statement.
Beach Volley
The Angloises finish 2nd in the group. The Angloises had a successful start at the 1st round of the French Beach Volleyball Cup. Each match is played in 2 sets of 15 points (tie-break at 11 points). In case of a tie, a “golden set” of 15 points is played, with a player from each team on each side of the net. Engaged for the first time in the competition, the Beach Volley Les Angles (BVLA) team, composed of Aurélie Ricca and Amandine Coteron (team 1) and Laury Potier and Loue Potier (team 2), all coached by Émilie Lladeres, had a promising journey. Out of the three matches played, the volleyball players won two: 2-0 and 2-0 against Aix UC Volley Ball, and another win, 2-0 and 2-0, against ASBAM Volley Montpellier. Thanks to their good results, they advance to the competition’s second round.
Trail
A self-supported multi-sport raid at Pont-du-Gard. It’s a sports and human adventure to be shared by two. On Sunday, April 19th, an adult raid will be launched on the left bank of Pont-du-Gard. Over 35 km, the pair will have to work together and stay on course to reach the finish line together. The athletes will focus on their performance and not on their watches: this self-supported raid will not be timed. The program includes various sports activities on the course: mountain biking, running, orienteering, canoeing, and shooting. Bib collection is scheduled between 7:30 am and 8:30 am. The athletes must be energetic and clear-headed to complete this natural-size Gard raid. Refreshments will only be available at the finish line for participants to regain their strength. Registration is done through HelloAsso, with a fee of 60 euros for a team of two people. The organizers of Aventurez-vous look forward to a large turnout at the start, to show that Pont du Gard is a land of enduring and resilient athletes.
