French basketball player Nell Angloma was selected as the 12th pick in the WNBA draft by the Connecticut Sun. The draft took place in New York on the night of Monday to Tuesday, where American player Azzi Fudd was chosen as the first pick by Dallas.

Angloma, who stands at 1.80m tall and plays as a forward or guard at 19 years old, is currently in her second professional season with French club Lattes Montpellier. She has been a French international player since last fall (with two caps) and has averaged 15.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in the league this season.

Azzi Fudd, a 23-year-old American player, was selected as the first pick by the Dallas Wings. Interestingly, the Wings had already benefitted from the first pick in 2025, choosing Paige Bueckers, Fudd’s girlfriend and former teammate at the University of Connecticut (UConn).

Fudd, named the best high school player in the country in 2021, had a successful end to her college career at UConn, winning a title in 2025 and being named the best player before a loss in the NCAA playoffs semi-finals this season.

Spanish player Awa Fam Thiam (19 years old, 1.92m) was chosen as the 3rd pick by the Seattle Storm, where she will join French player Dominique Malonga to form a strong frontcourt. The WNBA season begins on May 8 with two new teams, Portland and Toronto, bringing the total number of teams to 15.
