Britney Spears, 44, voluntarily checked herself into rehab for detoxification on Sunday following her arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Five weeks after her arrest in California, the pop star took a decisive step by admitting herself to a detox center of her own accord on Sunday.
The recent weeks have been emotional for Britney. Following her DUI arrest in March, amidst concerns from her loved ones, the superstar had emotional reunions with her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
After a tough few months, the singer seems ready to move forward. One of her representatives confirmed to Page Six that Britney willingly entered a detox center on Sunday. “It was her choice,” the source added.
The representative also mentioned that Britney Spears is not seeking treatment for a specific substance. The goal, according to the informant, is to focus on her mental health and take time for herself to concentrate on what is important to her.
“She is determined to take care of her health. It is something she really wants to do for herself. It was her own decision.”

According to the anonymous source, the pop star’s entire family supports this decision, including her sons. As for the duration of the treatment, it remains a mystery – even to the main person concerned. “She does not know yet. It is not a predefined program of 30 or 60 days. It will take the necessary time. She is not setting any limit. She simply wants to feel better and live a healthier lifestyle.”
One last dance video
The prospect of detox treatment does not seem to have dampened Britney’s desire to dance. Just hours before starting her treatment, the pop star posted a final dance video where she is seen swaying to the tune of “I Like It” by Cardi B, J Balvin, and Bad Bunny, clad in a sheer black bodysuit.
As usual, the 44-year-old star managed a wardrobe malfunction by shaking her hips, then pressing her top against her chest while swaying, before giving herself a resounding slap on the buttocks. Yay!
Take this as good news: while awaiting her court appearance on May 4, Britney seems to be keeping her spirit and energy intact. Let’s hope she now dedicates it to her recovery. (mbr)
